Who we are

What personal data do we collect, and why do we collect it

  • Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to facilitate spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (otherwise called a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

  • Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images, including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

  • Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. They are used for your convenience, not to have to re-enter your details when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

The site automatically will set several cookies to save your login information and screen display options when you log in. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember me”, your login will persist for two weeks. Log out from your account will remove the login cookies.

An additional cookie will be saved in your browser if you edit or publish an article. This cookie does not include personal data but indicates the article’s ID has been changed. It expires after one day.

  • Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor had visited another website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, integrate additional third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

  • Analytics

We do not use google analytics. We use a WordPress plugin called Slimstat for access analysis: privacy policy.

  • Who we share your data with

Your data is not shared or transferred to any third party. We do not authorise it; if that happens, we will be as many victims of abuse as you are.

  • How long do we keep your data?

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit or delete their data (except their username, which they cannot change). Website administrators can also see and edit this information.

  • What rights do you have over your data?

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive a file exported with the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all personal data concerning you. It does not include any data we must keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
